Recycling every scrap of your kitchen waste takes some room and prep work. Handy countertop crocks like this one store tea bags, coffee grounds, and fruit and veggie waste but eventually the crock fills up. Then what? We recommend hauling your scraps outside and adding them to a compost spinner or rectangle bin to mix with your nitrogen-rich shredded leaves*.
Helpful Hint: Keeping a 5 gallon galvanized can (with locking lid to keep out the critters) outside or in the garage can be a good method of stockpiling your scraps for a more efficient trip to the bin.
*Your compost pile should consist of mostly - 90% - shredded brown stuff (ie leaves) and the rest kitchen scraps (no animal scraps please).
