The 1000-watt XL.1 is Bergey's newest wind turbine. With 24-volt output, this wind generator is intended for off-grid or remote-location battery charging. This 2.5-meter (8.2-foot) turbine is designed for high reliability, low maintenance, and automatic operation under adverse conditions. The XL.1 features Bergey's proven AUTOFURL storm protection, a direct-drive permanent-magnet alternator, excellent low-wind performance, and nearly silent operation thanks to the state-of-the-art, patent-pending blade airfoils combined with the over-sized, low-speed alternator. Low-wind-speed performance is enhanced by low-end boost circuitry that increases output at wind speeds down to 5.6 mph (2.5 m/s).
